"I #ChooseToChallenge the imposter syndrome many women feel in our industry. I believe workplaces should support and provide more opportunities for women to lead in the workplace. Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.

When I first started at Linewize/Family Zone five years ago, I was one of two women in our IT department. Today, I’m proud to be amongst dozens of other women who are leading teams, designing, developing and testing our products. As a leader in Product, having a direct impact on the development of our products and customer experience is incredibly rewarding.

Promoting and advocating for diversity, inclusion and equality for women (especially in tech) is something anyone can help support, any day of the year. We even have non-for-profit organisations like Women in Technology WA Inc. (WiTWA) right here in Perth who champion gender diversity and equality in STEM. They host some pretty good events too!

My advice to all women in tech is #ChooseToChallenge your imposter syndrome!"

"I #ChooseToChallenge women to take ownership of their finances today. I grew up in a country surrounded by intelligent, entrepreneurial women, who took care of the entire family and set-up their own businesses from the ground-up. Some started a homely lunch-service from their kitchens, some opened their fashion studios, some (like my mum) painted till the sun came up. Yet, to my perplexment, at the end of each month, they just handed over all of their hard-earned profits to their husbands to "take care-off". Today, I hope that every woman starts on her journey to become more financially independent. Open that solo bank account, invest, even if it's a little bit every month, nurture and build that nest egg just for yourself."

"I #ChooseToChallenge women to go for the jobs that they want, even when they’re not a perfect fit. The research has shown for some time now that, on average, men apply for a job when they meet around 60% of the listed qualifications, while women only apply if they meet every single one of them. I nearly became part of that statistic when I was thinking about applying to Linewize/ Family Zone: I didn’t have everything they said they were looking for. But I remembered that none of the people I’d hired in the past had checked every single box. Qualifications are only part of what I look for in a candidate. I decided to go for the role anyway and the rest, as they say, is history."
